With snow on the ground since before Christmas, the propects of a competition were not looking too good.

I visited Horcum on the Saturday 2nd Jan 2010, and ran straight into a Blizzard. As the road began to ice over I made a hasty retreat to the relative warmth of Pickering

I visited again on Monday 4th Jan, only to find even more snow on the ground and a forecast for more to come.

The hope of Flying taking place this coming weekend, would have required a massive about turn in the weather. No - this just wasn't to be, as the whole country became gripped in the worst winter for 50 years, R3 of the Winter League slipped or should that be slid, quietly by.

Let's hope for better flying weather in February, in the meantime enjoy the scenery
