Who needs needs a weather forecast? What a waste of time they were. Heavy rain early and light winds to follow? Not a drop of rain was seen, felt or even threatened, plus the light winds turned out to be a steady 20mph westerly all day, giving us the best conditions of all the Winter League rounds, and the best Levisham has offered for some time.
After the usual breathless climb to the top, the 16 pilots were greeted with a challenging, and on occasions, blistering conditions, to produce 4 sub 40’s and 3 PB’s. Greg led the way with the first sub 40 and in the event the fastest time of the day with a 37.23. Jon Edison managed the second with 37.83, Paul Garnet recorded 38.26 and Richard Bago a 38.56. Well done Guys.
After that excitement, conditions deteriorated slightly, and Levisham was to catch out the unwary, with Ian Mason being the major casualty - destroying his Acacia on turn 2. Ian Stewart managed to knock the nose off his Tragi on landing, and several other Pilots had hairy moments to say the least. The problem being caused by conditions around Base A, which would result in a model over reacting, and exiting the base on an uphill line. Quick reactions were required, but a few penalties were issued never the less. So that means we have managed to run 5 out of the 5 scheduled events run, making this our best Winter League so far.
Thanks to everyone for supporting the event. With all that practice, roll on the Summer!
